In 2006 we fed more than 150,000 meals with the help of your donated food. Without you, our food ministry can not go on. The need for food is greatest from January through the summer months, but donations are appreciated at any time of the year. Items we always need include:

  • breakfast meats
  • pancake mix
  • cereal, sugar
  • creamer
  • juice
  • salt
  • spices (garlic powder, chili powder, pepper, etc.)
  • lunch meat
  • condiments and salad dressings
  • butter or margarine
  • cheese
  • salads
  • plastic tableware
  • paper napkins
  • any canned or dried items

If you are planning to purchase food to donate to a food drive, please bring number 10 size cans and other items in bulk, if possible. These sizes make our job easier. If you represent a food chain, grocery store or other organization and would like to be added to our regular pickup route, please call us at 269.345.2974 ext 247

If you would like to drop off food from an event or from your own kitchen, bring the items to the Gospel Mission food delivery door on the south side of the building whenever it is convenient.  We are open 9a.m.- 7:30p.m. every day. Of course, the items should be delivered as quickly as possible for food-safety reasons.  Tax-deductible receipts are availble for all food donations.

Please Pray For Our Workers
In Matthew 5:13 Jesus said, “You are the salt of the earth".  For those of us in the Food Service Ministry at the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, that statement could not be more profound. After all, the parallels between the importance of salt as a preservative and flavor-enhancer and our work as Christians are obvious.  We are to preserve and keep the Word of God and the truth of the Gospel in our hearts, but we are to flavor the environment around us by boldly sharing those same truths. Salt that sits in a bottle on a shelf does not do any good.  But used carefully and deliberately, it can make a bland meal come alive. Please pray that as God provides opportunities for us to share the Gospel with our residents through our work in the Food Service Ministry, the Holy Spirit will give us just the right words to say at just the right time. Their stomachs are hungry, but a hunger for the Lord is what truly needs to be prompted.
