Now faith is the substance of things hope for, the evidence of things not seen.   Heb 11:1

Broken families come here to the Gospel Mission for rest, relief, and recovery.  Our long-term program,Family Hope Discipleship, for women with children, is the only area program that allows kids to stay with their moms during their recovery from a dysfunctional lifestyle. (Other programs move the children to the homes of relatives or to foster care).  They stay with us for 12-18 months in their own apartment, during which time they participate in intensive, biblically based professional counseling to deal with issues from the past.  Their kids attend school or our childcare center. They also learn job skills and personal finance management.  We have apartments for six families.

Family Hope Discipleship has specific goals and objectives:
*Teach families about Godly living
*Bring the family into a stable environment
*Teach mom healthy parenting skills
*Break the chains of dysfunction so children can become healthy functioning adults
*Help moms find a support system through a church home and mentors

*Provide therapeutic help for the family
*Provide opportunities for education
*Move families toward financial independence
*Approach families from a highly compassionate Christian perspective, which is reliant on God’s Word and accountability-centered.

Residents receive professional counseling to learn how to overcome substance abuse, negative self-worth and other issues through Christ’s power, not their own.  We help them to heal from the past and learn effective ways to cope with life, relate with others in positive ways, take personal responsibility, and handle crisis.  Individual, marriage/family, and group counseling are available. In addition to counseling services, educational programming is also provided by the Counseling Ministries. The Living Transformation Education programming is a faith-based recovery curriculum, aimed at exploring such topics as shame, boundaries, sexuality, depression and relapse prevention.  All classes are held at the Mission. Are you willing to “adopt” a family to support their recovery?  Each month, sponsors receive a letter from their family, including a personal update on the family’s growth as they adjust to a healthier lifestyle.  Call us for details.
