Recovery Track

Miracles happen every day at the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission. Substance addiction victories, anger management, restored families and new jobs are just a few. But the best miracle of all is when a resident accepts Jesus Christ as the Lord of his life. This is the kind of reconciliation with God that the apostle Paul talked about in his letter to the Corinthians nearly 2,000 years ago (2 Corinthians 5:14-21). Those same words ring true today.

The Recovery track confronts or deals with addictions by providing the environment and teaching needed to build a relationship with Jesus Christ, using that relationship as a vehicle to progress in their journey of self-discovery and healing. Eventually a transformation takes place: old negative habits slowly start to change into new and positive habits by the intentional renewing of their minds to understand, agree and accept those changes. The track lays a biblical foundation for future discipleship.

Recovery track participants receive professional counseling to learn new coping mechanisms, to deal with past experiences previously “numbed out”, and provide a direct (and often new) understanding of the healing offered by Jesus Christ.  We show them practical ways to learn financial management and how to relate with others in positive ways. Individual, couple, family and group counseling are all available.
