In 2008 the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission deemed it necessary to expand our shelter capacity to better serve the women and children of our community.
On July 24th, 2020, Pastor Brown swung the first hammer to kick off demolition of the old buildings on Burdick St. Over the next three months, demolition crews worked too clear a way for the new building.
With snow covering the ground, construction crews begin work on the foundation to support the shelter. Campaigning continues as we turn our heads towards the internal furnishings for the suites and community spaces inside the shelter.
At KGM, we are committed to providing multiple safe and comfortable places for those who have become homeless This shelter will provide these necessities in the form of private shelter intake rooms, dedicated chapel space, community rooms, and more.
Finding ways to make a lasting impact is easy. We have developed resources for you to see what our biggest needs are for the new shelter. These options are open to yourself, your church, or your business.
To ensure that the furniture items arrives on time, we need to place our order no later than the beginning of June. This leaves us with only a short amount of time to raise funds for the furnishings of the shelter
Construction is currently on course for a completion date in October. We ask that you pray for a smooth opening and transition for our staff and guests as we begin to utilize this new building.
Because of your generous
contributions, this shelter will
be a beacon of light to hundreds of women and children for years to come. Please consider continuing your support to help provide meals and a warm place to sleep.
