BUILDING UPDATE:

We want to keep you informed with the most up to date information regarding the Women’s and Children’s Building Project. Up to this point, we have been planning for the building to be completed mid to late October, 2021. A few days ago, during a meeting with our building contractor, we were informed that they are not going to be able to finish by that date. Our new completion time frame is the middle of December, 2021. AVB has worked diligently to get this project done however, there have been some challenges that could not be avoided.

With this in mind, we are anticipating a soft opening of the building in December and planning a Grand Opening for the public sometime in January of 2022. We are looking forward to opening our doors and welcoming you in after the new year. A couple of things to remember:

1. Whenever something like this happens it is important to view this as part of God’s plan and “declare that” this will work for our good”. (Rom. 8:28)
2. While we were hoping to have more space sooner to help more people, we are currently not at capacity. So, if some of the folks currently in the encampment come for shelter, we will accommodate as many as we can.

Thank you for remaining diligent in prayer for this ministry and cheering this project on as faithful partners. We know that God has a plan, and we are excited to see it become a reality.

For more than 88 years, Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries has worked to provide hope and encouragement to the homeless and hurting population here in Kalamazoo. Unfortunately, the number of homeless in our area is rising. The greatest area of growth is in the number of women and children seeking shelter at our mission. Construction is underway... But we still need your help.

To ensure that the furniture items arrives on time, we need to place our order no later than the beginning of June. This leaves us with only a short amount of time to raise funds for the furnishings of the shelter
